Individual treatment plans
We help adults, children and adolescents who are experiencing mood disorders such as anxiety and depression as a result of life stressors. We develop a thorough treatment plan that is designed to support clients’ needs and improve all aspects of their lives, their relationships and employment. We use our extensive experience to assist people to work toward and succeed in addressing and recovering from challenges in life. We use a number of different counselling interventions including EMDR therapy to assist clients to heal from traumatic life experiences.
A traumatic event is any experience, in which a person is exposed to a threatening or harmful event, and as a result, experiences strong negative emotions or helplessness. The trauma becomes stuck and the brain often finds it difficult to process the traumatic memory. As a result, people can often experience flashbacks and continue to experience triggers from the traumatic event from the past. Trauma can be a single traumatic event or a number of events that impact your life and affect general coping skills on a day to day basis.
Examples of trauma are childhood abuse and neglect, emotional abuse, domestic violence, relationship breakdowns, loss and grief, accidents, car accidents, and workplace issues. Anxiety and depression often occur as a result of these experiences.
